Logic Sound Help

I'm trying to help a friend figure out his problem.

He has a Mac G4 and just bought a pair of speakers. He's running logic on his g4 and can not get any sound to play out of the speakers. What could the problem be? I'm sure he has it all plugged in okay. Could it be a driver problem??

Is he playing audio from within Logic or outside the program?
Is it something he recorded?
If so, do the waveforms look normal?

Make sure it's not on mute and the output for the track is set to Output 1-2.
