As mentioned in my title, sorry that I don't know in which category my question should fall. I'm not sure where my hang up is. I actually have two questions. If this is already posted somewhere or if there is a forum specific to my request, please forgive the posting here and direct me to the proper area. I'll be glad to move it there (thanks in advance).
QUESTION 1) LOGIC PRO
ENVIRONMENT & SETUP
I have a small keyboard connected via USB to my iMac. When I create a: new track>software instrument and then click and hold a button on the channel strip (can't recall now if that's the I/O button), I can select any of my installed VSTs. My keyboard then controls that virtual instrument.
QUESTION
Where can I see my keyboard as the controller? More importantly, where can I change that controller? Let's say that I have 2 keyboards connected (a 49 key and an 88 key). If my 49 key is controlling, where can I find the setting to change that to my 88 key controller?
QUESTION 2) LOGIC PRO or MIDI or V DRUMS
ENVIRONMENT & SETUP
I have a set of Roland V Drums with a midi cable (for in and out) connected to the IN and OUT MIDI ports. That cable then connects to an M Audio UNO midi sport interface which takes that MIDI cable and produces a USB connector on the other end that I then connect to my iMac.
What I am trying to do, is connect my V Drums and use those to trigger Studio Drummer.
At this stage, I am not sure if I should create a new SOFTWARE TRACK (since I want to control Studio Drummer which is a software instrument) or should I create a MIDI track since I want to use the V Drums to control?
I have tried both ways with no success:
a) When I created the software instrument track, I could easily control the drum sounds through my keyboard but don't know if I can switch from the keyboard as my controller to the drums. I don't know how to do this IF it's possible.
Thinking that maybe I should have created a MIDI track I did that next
b) When I created the MIDI track, I couldn't find a way to "assign" Studio Drummer to that track.
I have searched YOU TUBE and GOOGLED for the answer and while I see many examples of people using V Drums to control their drum VSTs, I haven't found anything that shows how and answers the above questions. THANKS very much for helping a NEWB.
