I just got Logic Pro for my iPad and am trying to get a simple interface to use with it. I have a MOTU MicroBook 2c which claims to be able to interface into an iPad but it’s not cooperating. Any advice?

I like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 - buy it used and you save a lot of money - then get a USB Hub so you can charge the iPad at the same time.

I just watched a video where a fellow was using a Berry UMC404. He said it was class compliant and worked great with his iPad.

What firmware has the unit got?
I'm reading that you can find out in the Cuemix app under Devices>Setup.

Pretty sure that would have to be checked on Windows or MacOS but if it's older than V1.08 you can update,
which may solve the problem.

The IIc firmware update for MacOS can be downloaded here
Direct Motu link - https://cdn-data.motu.com/downloads/audio/MBIIc108_mac.zip

and their instructions are
  1. Disconnect the USB cable from back panel to turn off the MicroBook II.
  2. Press and hold the volume knob on the top panel and connect the MicroBook II to the computer by USB.
  3. Release the volume knob when the "MIC" and "GTR" LED's start to flash on the top panel.
  4. Open the firmware updater program and follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

I finally got it to work! This will give a decent remote recording device. Now I can mix on a plane……lol.

Was firmware the solution?
I thought so at first, but then it just started working after I switched the usb cable from the moto and added a usbc adapter. After that it worked and the inputs showed up on the screen. Now if I can get past the learning curve on (ILL)-Logic I might have decent portable rig to use on the road or when I go visit mom.
