I bought logic gold for windows 4.5 last week. I found out it doesnt work under XP so i have to wait untill the end of the week. I've tried installing it on another computer with 98 but im still having truoble with the key. Logic came supplied with two cables. The longer one is a 9 pin male to a 9 pin femal and there's a shorter 9 pin male to 25 pin female. The only one i can get to fit on both of my computer is the longer cable and even then i can only get the 9 pin female side to fit in. Im fairly sure this is not enough. The instilation manual didnt provide much help either. What am i doing wrong where does it all need to go? All help will be very appriciated.

The Logic key that was supplied with my Logic Gold is an inline serial connection. A short jumper from my serial port to the key with my mouse tied to the other end. Or I can just leave it hanging from a serial port.

I dont think i have a serial port (im guessing thats where the 25 pin cable goes) What can i do.
Is there any usb to serial adapter or something like that i can use?

The short cable is the one I'm using. My guess it's the 9 pin although I did'nt take it apart to check. The key itself should say com-port on one end and thru on the other. The com-port end will be the end tied to the com port on your PC.
You have a PC machine, it should have a serial port. Mine has 2 serial com ports.
If not, their may be an adapter available at a comp. store.
Now if you upgrade to Logic Gold 5.0 available in march it comes with the new USB key. $149.00 for the upgrade

Well ive got an addapter to it goes 9 pinn male (compter) - 9pin femal (adpater) - 25 pin male (adapter) - 25 pin male (key). And guess what it still doesnt work! I'm getting very pissed off with this. I thought it might be because i was running it under XP but it doesnt work under 98 either. Im going to ring the shop i bought it from tomorrow. An ideas in the mean time?
