Hi there.

Heres my problem: after recently purchasing my MacBook, i wish to get some sort of multitrack software to enable me to run EWQLSO Gold (when the universal binary update is released). I am drawn between two packages: Logic Pro 7 and Cubase 4. Both at the top of their game, there doesn't seem to be much in it. Has anyone has experience of using either or both of these software? If so, what are your opinions, and which would you choose given the chance? (bear in mind that I have used Cubase SX 2 before on my old Windows system - be that as it may, I am willing to learn a new software package if it is going to serve me better!).

The other alternatives are the cheaper, cut-down versions of these packages: Cubase Studio 4 and Logic Express. Has anyone had experience with either of these? Am I going to loose out on a lot of useful features if I opt for the cheaper option?!

Or does anyone have any suggestions as to alternative software which i haven't mentioned?!

Many thanks for any feedback you have to offer!!

Steve

I dumped Cubase SL because it crashed constantly. Use Logic Express now- solid as a rock. Just one mans opinion.

You should look at digital performer also

Agreed. The real question should be whether to choose Logic or DP.

I've read a lot of stuff on the cubase.net forum. Almost every thread is about Cubase 4 crashing and people wanting to go back to SX3. Maybe some updates will help, but I also just got a Intel Mac and am making the switch from PC. A friend of mine recommended Digital Performer to me and I will test it out to see how I like it.

Logic Express is working great for me. It did have a steeper learning curve than Cubase, IMO.

grr..

well i hate cubase.

ive never used either DP or logic though, but i reckon i'd perfer DP because from the screenshots, it looks like pro tools in some aspects (which is my weapon of choice)
