latest full band (2 guitars, bass, drums, vocals, screams) recording, tryin to get some tips and opinions on it basically...

A bit of screaming during the verse, but also plenty of emo singing. beside's the band's talent, and the drummer's weakness on that kick drum, peep the mixes!

If you are still interested at this point, the only place i could get this posted (And awesomely, might i add) was at the recording project.com . so you (i think) will need to register over there before you can download/stream this. Nevertheless, try to check it out, I'd love to hear from people about this stuff.

the thread direct link is: http://www.recordingproject.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=6888
and you can, of course, click the file from there.

Sounds quite good quality. But it is clipping constantly! The vocals arnt loud enough and dont cut through the mix well. Bass needs to be louder in my opinion and no im not a bass player! im a guitarist.
Ahhhh, the clipping is from the guitar im sure. Maybe rerecord the guitars, but they still sound good tonewise and playing wise.
Good tune but not best recording.

This is the band i am in called Serotone from Scotland. spelling mistake in web site! ha.
ONe heavy song called "Sit back" and a mellow song called "Objection".
Critique please. More so on the songs than recording as it is just a rough recording and mix.

i tihnk you are mistaken, it isn't clipping at all....ha! I can't even hear any clipping in the tracks either...perhaps your signal path is bumping up that volume somehow? watch your windows media settings/EQ! haha.

the drums sound mono espially the cymbols. You cant hear the kick very well there is no bass that i can hear only the exstended low end of the guitar wich is exsesive. If there is a bass its that burried ,but i dont hear one. The snare sounds like your smacking plastic. try tuning it. you cant hear the high end of the drums. over all sounds like typical punk music great job I like the song ,but i dont like the recording ,though that wouldnt stop me from listening to it. just wish somethings were diffrent. What was used to record this im guessing ther is minimal signal path and minimal gear, but just curios what your using. Just saw your site if your using cool edit multi track drums with at least 3 mics. If stereo is all you can use then use the mixer you have and run the 3 mics in and use the stereo out of the mixer or even the headphone out if you have a soundblaster type card and pan the drum mics and mix the stero track in cool edit. Then do the guitars and the bass if there is one Then vocals. Dont mix it all at once you dont have the resorces to do that. Work on your drum recording techniques get some books and read as much as you can on this. I think you could do better with what you have there. If you like doing this keep doing it as much as you can keep screwing up keep reading and keep saving for gear. I'm 23 i have 20,000 in studio gear and i have no desire in stopping i started at 15 good luck.
