Somebody help me. I can't figure out how to load a VST effect I just downloaded into Cubase LE.

You need to place the .dll file in the VST Plugins folder. Some will also have supporting files that need to be there, too. Should be something like: My Computer-->Program Files-->Steinberg-->Cubase LE-->VST Plugins

Ok, I have it under there, now how do I get it to work in Cubase? It'as not a choice when I want to add an effect to a track.

P.S I tried going under "Send Effects" and "Load Effct", but it wants an FXP file.

Here is the problem, It wont run with Cubase LE, sorry but I hoped that helped you out, in other words there is no support or documentation saying what version the VST engine is because it is the light version, apparently it is under 2.0 or you could have used it, all I can say is you will have to upgrade to at least SE for the latest VST engine.

Here http://www.steinbergupgrades.com/upgrade.html

System Requirements:

Pentium III/AMD 1.5 GHz
RAM 256 MB (512 MB recommended)
Free disc space 10 MB
Operating System Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Windows MME Sound Card (ASIO compliant Sound Card recommended)
Host Application Cubase VST 5.1 or higher, Cubase SL/SX 1.0 or higher, Nuendo 1.5 or higher or other VST 2.0 compatible host software

I'm under the impression that LE and SE use the exact same engine and this plugin works perfectly in SE.

Newbiedude - Go to Devices-->VST Effects and click the dropdown menu for the first effect send. Glaceverb should be there. If it doesn't work, sorry. Hopefully someone else who has LE can verify this.

I could not find any documentation for LE, remember it is a stripped down version and steinburg does not support it, thats why I figure that it does not have the latest VST engine, other than that you gave him the correct info on loading it! ;) he could be going to the wrong place to load it though

Hmmm...according the the steinberg site, LE does not use the same audio engine (vst 2.3) as SE, but it doesn't say what engine it has...anyway, when you unload the program, you have to tell it to unpack the plugin in the correct folder (Cubase LE-->VSTPlugins), or Cubase won't know where to look for it. It should be the path I posted above. Good luck.

Ok, I just downloaded the Voxengo OldSkoolVerb Plug-In. I "Unzipped" it with Winzip, saved it under disk C-Programfiles-Steinberg-Vst Plugins. It saved as a Dll file. I then opened up cubase, went to devices-send effects. I pulled down the file menu and selected Load Effect. In the little window that showed what type of file I anted to load, I had the option of "FXP" or "any file". I chose Any file and clicked on the Plug in. After I clicked it, the window just disapeared And the plug in wasn't loaded.I then renamed the file with ".fxp" at the end and tried it. The same thing happened. I then tried typing in the file I wanted instead of clicking on it. Same thing happened. What could I be doing wrong?

Check to see if there is a different VSTPlugins folder, as different versions of Cubase look for the plugins in different places. For my SE system it is C-->Program Files-->Steinberg-->Cubase SE-->VSTPlugins. That is, there is an extra folder, just as I described above. Look to see if you have a VSTPlugs folder inside the Cubase LE folder. If so, that would be the place to unzip your plugs, not the one in the Steinberg Folder.

Secondly, I don't have any option to "Load Effect" in my File menu, so I don't know what you're talking about. In SE (which looks very similar in most respects to LE), you can load effects as either Inserts on an individual channel, or as Send Effects, which are available to all channels. To load something as an insert, you pull up the detailed view for that channel/track and click on the insert box. Available effects will dropdown and you select the one you want. For Send effects, you go to Devices-->VST Send Effects and a similar box pops up with dropdown options to load send effects. There is a low-res picture here. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll look in that folder.

Oh, and I didn't mean in the main file menu. I mean when you go to devices-send effects. By the box where you choose an effect, there's a little button ike that that says File. I pressed on that, and then out of Load effect, Save Effect, Load Bank, Save Bank, I chose Load effect.

KICKASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got it too work. I don't know what I would do without this board. Thank you guys so much.
