Lo end/mud: Mastering

The snare and toms sound a little bit lo-fi to me, but the rest sounds great
perhaps it's the wrong kind of compression, or the wrong EQ/settings - I'm finding (recently - which is why I even bring it up) is that a lot of EQs (esp the analog modeled ones) have really specific things they're good at, and there are only a few good "all around" EQs out there.

anyway, I can't put a finger on it exactly ... but it's definitely closer to finished than any of my stuff ... so yay to that!

Peace :)

Let the mastering engineer worry 'bout dat shit.

That's what you're paying him for.
.

Sounds good, I don't hear excessive problems in those areas. Chessrock's advice is best.

Cheers all.
I dont hear anything wrong with the hats though.
Yeah the snare isnt the best, but im happy enough with the toms I suppose.

The toms are samples I recorded last night, and the snare sounds lke that becuase it wasnt tuned or padded the right way. Bah!
Thanks for the comments guys,
Eck

I feel this is as good as I can get the mix to my ears.
That is the definition of a finished mix that's ready for matering. What's the question?

Don't be so nervous. You're sending a mix to an ME, not asking The Little Red Haired Girl out on a date :).

I was just making sure there wasnt anything I was missing around the lo end and lo mids as im a bit paranoid about that area.

Eck,

Is there a way to download this without have to sign-up Soundclick? I can't really tell much from computer speakers. And as others have said, if you feel it's the best that you can get it, it's done. There is no such thing as perfect, and if you try to chase it beyond a certain point it will never be released.

Brian Wilson had a good response to someone who once asked him "How do you know when a mix is complete". He essentially said that it's like eating a meal, you know you're done when you're full.

The clip isnt up for download sorry.
Wise words though. I have kind of been thinking when is a mix actually finished. I could nit pick for weeks on little parts of the album and not get much better a quality (maybe even less a quality!).
I think I need a break from this album. :)
