New guy here. I have been lurking for quite a while but this is my first post. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University 10 years ago with a B.S. in Recording Industry Management and promptly entered an unrelated field of work. I recently decided to dust off my recording equipment and start recording for local bands. I am in the middle of recording an EP for some guys I know from way back and thought it would be fun to throw up some mics and do a live to 2 track session. Here is a sample. Tell me what you think. Due to the situation (drums and acoustic guitars together in the living room), there was quite a bit of bleed over in the mics. The hi-hat is a bit strong at times but, oh well:)

Thank in advance.

Good performance for live - and mix on this is pretty good. I would pull the vocals up a touch but I like really up front vocals. Drums are a little hot at times....for example during the break. Maybe compress them a bit more.....

Nice tones on everything, recorded well....

:) :D :) :D

The drums are a bit too up front but the rest is really good. The vocals sound a listen TOOLish & hence need to be a little obscured. Actually there's a TOOL on MTV Unplugged vibe about the whole thing - esp the melody & bass.

Thanks for the input guys. I will post some multi-track stuff when I am finished mixing:)

Pretty nice recording, man.
Nice and tight low end. Guitars sounded good.
I do agree with what ido said, you could have pulled the vocals up a bit - but this is just my opinion.

Hard to do better than that for a live, 2 track recording.

BTW, if someone told me that was tool doing an accoustic set, I would have believed it....
