I'm just starting to put together a set of live techno stuff. I'm using a Yamaha Motif for my main keyboard/sequencer/drum machine, a novation K-staion and roland Jp-8000. I'm wondering how I can get the motif to recieve the midi controler data from both of them.

Basically, it understands and records slider movements from the Novation K-station and plays them back in a sequence but it will not do this with the jp-8000 which comes after the novation in the chain.

Do they make such things as "Midi Hubs" that would split the signal from the Motif to two midi in and outs? This I think would solve my problem. Anyone have any ideas or doing this kind of thing themselves? Let me know. Thanks,

i also have a motif for trance music and am putting together a live set using sonar/computer as the main midi source. this way you can chain em all together and use the midi ports to direct certain midi data to the specific modules. to add the live element I will be muting tracks and automation to certain channels and then play/tweak them live. I also plan on doing a complete live set using performance mode on the motif...using that you can layer on-board patterns/sounds with external synths to create awesome textures and patters completely on the fly.

just some ideas for ya... cory
