Mixing and Mastering.
Anyone watch live 8 today?, I thought it was pretty good. Pink Floyd were absolutely brilliant although they didnt get a big enough set. They should have been the "McCartny" of the night dont yous think (UK)?
Big up to Bob though.
Just hope that the Group8 kill the debt.
Sorry for getting to political. Is this even the right place to post this thread!??

It is now. :D

No I did not see it. I would have liked to. Pink Floyd being one of my faves.

I suppose a tiny portion of the millions raised from all of those Live8 concerts could have fed one or two starving children but alas, all of the performers and promoters decided to keep every last penny for themselves. How caring and thoughtful of them.

They weren't trying to raise money, they want to stop third world debt. The tickets we're the cost of a text, and then people we're picked at random.

I was there and Pink Floyd were amazing. I was sceptical about them not being the final band. But Paul Mcartney picked a brillinat set list.

But back to Floyd.......words cannot describe how good they were, best part of the night by far.

What?????

Bob didnt ask for any money, it was to raise awareness to Blair and co. just to show how many people cared about the cause. Although it was weird as they had to get the best* acts in the countries to perform before that amount of people would partake!
What makes you think that any artists made any money?
I think that Bill Gates should help cancell the debt. He has more money than anyone ever needs.

*Best = most popular

The crass stupidity of cynics like you really does get me quite angry. Get over yourself. You sound like the kind of person who would be fishing around picking holes no matter how good the news. The G8 have pretty much cancelled 3rd-world debt now ... can you tell us how you would have brought that about without any high-profile events and organised public pressure?

Okay, Okay! I made an error. I heard wrong. I stand corrected. Lighten up already. People like you are too quick to crucify. Let me have a trial before the hanging.

:) Well if you're pleading guilty I might just let you off with a caution :)

Any debt cancellation was done way before this concert. This concert was alot of free publicity for a bunch of aging artists (Many of whom I love). Why didn't they do more concerts in AFRICA??? I think it was very self-serving and made no difference. Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and George Bush both said it won't sway them to donate the .07 they were being asked to. It is a great casue, but did nothing. Anyone think it raised awareness, we'll talk in 6 months and see if the general public even remembers any of this. I admire Mr. Geldof for his efforts and wish the world was full of people like him, but I think it was misplaced this time.

ok, now i LOVE politics and CANNOT keep my mouth shut here....

1. Cancelling 3rd world debt but keeping the monitary system intact will likely help some but heap more problems on others. There will be more money to spend on weapons in africa when the debts are gone, that's for sure....

2. Live8 was another attempt to improve a totally hopeless world system. I'm disappointed with everybody that got involved :D They ACKNOWLEDGE the power of the G8!.... disaster..... a spectacular screw-up, that's what it was.

3. The only way to effectively cancel the bad influence of world political and economic leaders is to completely ignore them and not co-operate with them in any way. If we didn't constantly do what we were told, the world wouldn't be half as bad.

World "leaders" should just sit down and shut up

What do you mean any debt cancelletion was done before this concert? This was free publicilty for the artists sure, but stop being so cynical. Ok Snoop Dawg was there for no reason apart for the fact that he likes to hear people say his name a lot. But every other artist there was making points and trying to persude people to support them.

I did notice that London was the only show that accepted the reality of people dying. They were the only show that had films of these children dying and people starving to death. In Philly, it was a concert, and it seemed as if nobody cared (including the artists) about the people dying in africa, and why live 8 was set up.

Bush may not sway, but it was to put pressure of all G8 leaders and encourage Tony Blair to make sure it is high on the agenda. They we're done to raise awareness. Not a single one of my mates (except my girlfriend) knew who Bob Geldof was, or about the terrible crisis in africa, or what the G8 summit is.

Becuase of this gig they all want to be a part of it and help in anyway they can. And will people still be talking about this in 6 months.....if the debt is cancelled then people will be learning about this in school, history will have been made.

Debt cancellation was announced to appease the masses in the face of the Make Poverty History / ONE campaign, teamed with the Live 8 events. Whilst it is agreed in principle, it isn't finalised till the Summit anyway, and is only the first (big) step towards the restoration of justice that we are campaigning for.

George dubbleya Bush announced last night on 'Tonight with Trevor Mcdonald' (dont ask why i was watching it) that he wouldn't be doing Tony Blair any favours, and more or less said that he wasn't going to run the risk of ruining the american economy to save millions of peoples lives. Without him backing it, it pretty much won't be happening.

He is an idiot.

agreed.

AHHHH crap! This is turning into a political thread!
