What would be a good way of recording live using all four tracks of the tascam 424?

im not sure WHAT you want to record, so this is kinda hard to answer.

i have a friend who does the one man band thing professionally. She has decided she wanted a "Live" album made.

So, i have recorded several of her shows, with several more to go to finally end up with enough stuff for a live album.

I put her vocals on 1, her guitar on 2, her drum machine on 3, and if she has a piano accompanyment i put it on 4, if not i plug in a crowd mike on 4.

if you were recording a bigger band, you might want to just use 4 mikes.

when i was recording on the 424, i used to mix all the drums on one channel, the bass on one and then sub mix them onto one. then i would add rythm guitar, lead guitar, and the lead vocals.

the units are pretty flexible as to how you route to the recordings, whether to the buss or direct.

good luck in figuring out what you need to do
