Little pieces of effects

How do I add effects just on a little part of a track. e.g. I want to put a delay in at the end of a vocal line in one part of the song. I just can't figure out how to do that.
We're using N-Track and directx plugin effects here.
Any advise?

select region by click>drag

Select the area you want to effect and apply the effect you have chosen using the hammer icon on the menu bar.There is another method explained in the help file where you use the volume evolution-drawing technique through the effects send but I haven't learned that one.It's so simple to use the click>drag method I've stayed with that one.
