Here´s my room...
I´m gonna record drums moslty... What do you think about this setup?
All bass traps are 2x4" 50 kg/m3 wool.

I don´t have much room to use my speakers in a symetrical setup, but those traps behind should help with the image... right?

Cheers!

Why not put them(drums/mix) at opposite ends of the room? That way the mix position could be centered, and the drums can be alittle off to the left to let the door open.
Or you could rehang the door to open outwards, if you're not renting that is.

Hi 1Tonio! Thanks for the advice...
I thought about it -changing places-, but insolation wise, the room suffers a lot... Next to the studio i have my room, and next to it, my neighbors... So, i try to keep them happy in order to being able to play and record for long time...

I´m using double doors, so it can only open inwards...

Any other suggestion?

Once again I would try and go for symmetry with the mixing position.

So Julian, is the neighbor on the north side (mix position )of the picture? If so, do you think it will make that much of a difference where the drums are?

The neighbors are still going to hear it, unless you're walls are really insulated or a false wall. Still, there will be flanking from the floor and ceiling. I'm guessing that you don't have an inner false wall right? otherwise you could just re-hang the doors to the outside.
Move the drums to the left of the doors, and mix on the bottom. If you could remove the riser and swap positions for a test run, it may be worth it.

Yes, my neighbors are in north side of the pic...
In fact i do have false walls... I already had a brick room and i made a gypsum (with insulation) room within... I can´t rehang the door because i´m using double doors...

I don´t know why, but it sounds quite different (and louder)...

Anyway to help the stereo image without swaping places?
