ok so im in highschool and do demo work for a lot of kids in my town(mostly acoustic stuff) untill my friends punk ska says they want me to record them. so i give it a shot and heres the results. and remember im a high school student and this was all done with less that $200 worth of mics and a g3 imac with logic express. enjoy!

its the only song on there, and remember to stream at high bandwidth if possible!

give me some constructive feedback!

Great recording of the music surfmaster, sounded like good fun.

I'd suggest re-doing the vocals in a different room/with a different mic/different pre-amp or adding some effects. They don't sit in the mix too well at the moment.

Hi Surf,
Intro - vary the vol of the voices, as if people were walking toward, away from the mic etc. to create a dynamic for the bass to work against.
Has the prominent bass buried the bass drum?
It's a good good demo.
The vox could use some help - just to add a little colour so they stand out a little more. Perhaps follow the potato's lead.
Cheers

well done, but if you wanted to go further then you should take the others advice with spiceing up the vocals- unless the vocalist gains alittle more mic skill. which doesnt make him a bad singer....but yeah.

love the guitars....

thank you guys so much for the advice, ill keep in mind the bass vs. bass drum mxing. i tried to eq them differently but the bass definatly does stand out more. and i'll work on those vocals. ive got one of those bluetube mic pres, maybe that will give them the extra midrange and body to equal out the mix. and yeah, he's not the best vocalist, these guys never really prided themselves in their vocals. maybe i should give them some singing techinique 101. but really, much thanks to you guys for helping out.
