Listen to my band...please!!

Hey everybody. This is a rough mix of our band. I haven't really tried finish because the vocals in the end are going to be redone. I already know the snare is a bit back in the mix. Just let me know what you think.

Come on now...I listen to everybody else's stuff.

Beezoboy,
I listened to your song, and I am impressed. I am struggling to learn to mix my first project, so I can appreciate what you have done with yours. I have a phone modem, and it took about 12 minutes to download (ugh!).
If you could give a newcomer two pieces of advice, what would they be?

Well I would have to know what genre you are and what equipment you have to work with. I am not exactly a master myself. I think music production is an area where nobody knows everything. My advice for now though is to keep posting to this forum and read from every category you are interested in. There are some really smart and really really talented musicians, engineers, and producers in this forum. And I think there really are no dumb questions. I mean most of the people know the answers because they had to ask some of the same questions at some point, and they either dug up the answers out of a book or talked to someone else who knew more they did. You are on the right track.

This is great.

Songwise - Thank god, a non drum machine player, saved my sanity. Funky intro, good chord changes, reminds me of something, but I just can't think of it, and that will drive me nuts. Certain parts of the chord progression... I will think of it eventually...

Really like the song, great guitar solo! Excellent singing too. The end part is cool to with vocal stuff. Good timing overall on the whole song.

The recording is very dry and rough/unmixed sounding to me, so I can't really comment on that aspect.

This is a great tune!

Keep up the excellent work.

I like it... straight forward stuff, and I mean that as a compliment. The kick and bass go well together and sound good in the mix, which I think is tough to do. My guess is the band has played together quite a bit. Guitar tone on the solo fits very nicely. Only bad thing I hear is the vocal on the verse sounds rushed in places... mainly the first verse. I really like the vocal on the pre-chorus.

Emeric, if you think of what it reminds you of, post it cause it's getting to me now. :D

Hey guys thanks for all the comments and suggestions. If you think of what this song reminds you of, let me know. We kind of have a unique sound because many of our songs are so different. I'll post another one soon, and I'll also clean this one up a bit.

Thanks
Beezoboy
