Linplug Albino and Sonar Problem

I'm using Sonar 2 on my 2.53 GHz Pentium 4, with a 533 MHz FSB and 768 MB of ram. My soundcard is an Audiophile 2496 with WDM drivers. I have been trying to use the Linplug Albino soft synth (using the FX Expansion VST-DX adapter). My CPU usage goes through the roof. I can't even play a four note chord on my keyboard without the CPU usage jumping up to 90% or going into the warning zone and causing distortion.
I think I have a pretty good computer, and I should be able to handle soft synths okay (certainly more than ONE). Has anyone had similar problems with Albino or the VST-DX adapter?

Yes, you should.

Have you tweaked your settings at www.musicxp.net? And have you tried ASIO-drivers?

Actually, I now think that I need to update to a newer version of the DX-VST adapter. I have version 3. When I use VSTis in my free version of Computer Muzys they perform much better.

That seems like a good idea. Cakewalk bought the fxPansion adapter. You should check out www.cakewalk.com ... :)
