I really really am trying to link up my 16 channel PA mixer to my computer, but i have a very funny feeling I'm gonna have to spend quite a bit of money on leads and a new soundcard as I can only use a jack output into my audigy, does anybody know of any good soundcards (that are reasonably priced) that I could get to allow me to use either all 16 of my channels or about 8?

Motu

You might want to consider the Motu 24 I/O Core. It's a bit more than 4 of the M-audio 1010LT's but you're looking at a real pro piece of gear with 24 channels on only one PCI card. You can add 3 more using the same PCI card for total of 96 channels.

Is that 16 channels with preamps or are some of those line only? The reason I ask is that most mixers only have inserts for inputs with preamps, so you're going to end up either doing a weird split on any other channels or running them straight into your computer anyway, in which case if you get enough channels on your audio interface, you almost might as well use the computer for both recording and your live mixing and just feed a stereo out to the powered mixer just to drive the speakers. :D
