I agree with everything you wrote. I'm even considering changing the name of my contribution to "Cock Itch" it has a certain ring to it.

Seriously, I think you're right on about the liner notes.

Ok, this place has been dead for a while aside from S8-N's great cover art. (P.S. see the Save S8-N announcement on the main page)

So I'm thinking about liner notes. I have one way to do them....let me know if it's accepetable (they'll look nicer in the actual jacket of course....man, you need to chill out)

This first one is how my liner notes might appear:

Hindsight [4:35]
Written, Performed, and Recorded By: Boden Larson
Copyright 1999, Boden Larson

Contact Information:
Boden Larson
Bozeman, MT http://www.mp3.com/slacker
blarson@imt.net

Pretty basic stuff. All the important fields I could think of....written by, recorded by, performed by, copyright, and contact information.

The following is how the liner notes might appear for something submitted by sonusman (pay attention if you are recording another band's music because this is what you need)

Bob's Cool Tune [1:02]
Performed By: Bob's Band
Written By: Bob Forapples
Recorded By: Ed Rei, Echostar Studios, February 2000
Copyright 2000, Bob's Label

Contact Information:

Bob Forapples, Bob's Band
Portland, Oregon http://www.bobsband.com
bob@bobsband.com

Ed Rei, Echostar Studios
Portland, Oregon
XXX.XXX.1234 http://www.echostarstudios.com/
edrei@echostarstudios.com

So it's basically the same layout except for the double contact information. I think that the performer's contact information should go first.

Now, on the back cover of the CD we would just have a song list with the names of all the songs AND the name or BBS alias of the person who RECORDED the tune. It is, after all, about recording, right? So it might be like:

1. CMiller - Cock Itch [2:45]
2. Slackmaster 2000 - Hindsight [4:35]
3. Sonusman - Some Tune [4:29]
4. S8-N - Stupid Frickin Bitch [2:04]

etc etc etc (sorry I don't have the song list handy at the moment).

What do you all think? I think it would be best to put the BBS name of the person who submitted the song on the back cover for easy reference....like if you're listening to track 10 you might not want to go through the liners to figure out who Joseph Riley is on the BBS. Plus the liners don't contain the BBS name...at least not the way I've done them which is not the way we're going to do them unless nobody pipes in with a better idea which wouldn't suprise me because nobody reads this shit anyway. :)

Or maybe we should put BBS names in the liner notes? I dunno.

BTW, in case you're confused, liner notes will be INSIDE of the front cover jaket.

I think the spirit of the season calls for me change my submission to "M.F.U.B.S"... I wanted to go with a new song, but it aint happening...
Sorry...

I'm not disappointed...as long as you get something on there!

(I emailed you back BTW...not sure if you got it)

Hey CMiller, that's my cock reference! :D

I like all that you said Slack, but for the song list, I was thinking song titles first, then the BBS name. Like this:

1. Hindsight [4:35] - Slackmaster 2000
2. Cock Irritation [3:00] - Brad
3. M.F.U.B.S. [7:06] - S8-N

Either way works, I just thought I'd give you some feedback so you know that some of us still read this forum.

Oops...man I'm always getting you guys confused!

Sticking songs first sounds fine to me.
