Hey everyone,
This is my first post here, I'm just now trying to get into recording some guitar and vocal stuff. I have a Pod xt which I completely love, but I am wondering what the best recording software would be to use with it...price isn't too much of an issue, I'm thinking about getting Sonar 8 from Cakewalk...I was thinking Pro Tools but I found out I can't use my Pod as an interface. I'm pretty sure I can use the pod as an interface with Sonar?

Also, has anyone recorded vocals through a Pod xt? It looks like you can use the Tube Preamp setting for that, just wondering if anyone has ever done that....Any help would be greatly appreciated!

no comment on the Pod XT .. but i have used my TonePort UX2 with Cubase LE and Reaper.. love it! It also came with ..umm.. Adobe Live? maybe.. but i've never tried it.

Can you use the Pod XT with the Line6 Gearbox or Ampfarm software?

There are a lot of different recording software packages. The POD gear can work well with most all of them. There are some fairly good free ones, so I suggest using one of those initially to get some experience with your POD gear.

I’m not sure the vocal mic is something to spend much time with yet.

+1 the best DAW software out there is Reaper I prefer it over Cubase, Cakewalk or Pro Tools.
Kristal Audio engine, Wavosoaur and Audacity are some good freeware programs that should be compatible with the POD XT.

100% Agreed. Reaper is fantastic.

I've mainly used Audition and Cakewalk in the past... recently came across Reaper and have been blown away. It runs super smooth on my old AMD3000/1GB RAM computer that I use for recording.

My POD X3 should be here in the next couple days so I cant wait to try it out.

btw, for easy drum tracks check out EZDrummer. It's a VST plugin and you can load it easily in Reaper. With the Drumkit from Hell extension it is great.

Ya I have been eyeballing that new Pod X3 rackmount
Wasn't very impressed with the first or second generation PODS but this one looks promising.
what I like about the unit is you can use it for bass, guitar, keys and vox

keep us posted on how well you like it.
