I know I posted a thread a while ago regarding the Line6 POD2, but I have some questions regarding the unit. After getting a *very* mixed response to whether or not it's worth it, I have decided it will benefit me a lot seeing as though the majority of my playing is done through my PC.

At the moment, I am using a Zoom GFX707 pedal, plugged directly into my PC. However, the amp simulators on the Zoom do not do a very good job of simulating amps, so the POD is the next best thing.

What I was wanting to know, is, if I used a POD, could I still use my Zoom pedal, and plug it into the POD ? Would/could this damage the POD at all ? Could the POD also be used before going into an amp ?

All I want to do is find a way to get a good sound going direct into my PC. I have looked at the J-Station, but prefer the POD. Any other suggestions (apart from micing my amp) ?

Sure, you could use the Zoom pedal just like you would to plug it into a regular guitar amp.

Could the POD also be used before going into an amp ?

Why not? I do it and think it sounds great. There's a switch on it for whether you're using it direct or as the front end for an amp. I don't always heed the recommended setting, however. Sometimes I like the "direct" setting when using an amp.

I can't resist the urge to give my comments on the pod even though it should technically be in your other post:

The pod will definitely not put any amp makers out of business. BUUUT, it sounds damn good. I'm not into dead horses so I won't answer whether it really recreates classic amp sounds. I will suggest that it be evaluated for it's own sounds.

Also, if you insist on comparing it's authenticity, compare it to other RECORDINGS- not the sound of the live equipment. I've had buddies play it through my monitors and say "It doesn't sound like a leslie! " How the hell can anything through studio monitors sound like a real amp playing in a real environment? When was the last time you heard a famous recording through any stereo system that sounded like the actual equipment live?
