Line only mixers?

Lost Cause
Steadily moving over to individual pre's for everything, and so could dispense with the Behri mixer. But we still need to mix down to 2 channel output for the PA's power amp. Also need to be able to send 1 or 2 channels at a time to the VF-80 recorder. So the question is, can you get line only mixers, say with aux sends to send selected signals to the recorder, or should I just stick with the Behri with the gains turned all the way down? BTW we use about six channels at a time (2 vox, gtr, bass, and a stereo from the V-drums / drum machine).

Does this question make any sense? - I think I know what I mean:)

By turning the pres on the Behrringer all down you effectively have a line level mixer. Why not just use it and not it's preamps?

Maybe because the signal is still going through all the BEHRINGER electronics, with all the noise and sonic character they add to the signal. If you have some money to throw at this, go here: http://www.mercenary.com/speckxtramix.html
and all your troubles are over. If you need to do it on the cheap, I'm not aware of anything similar in the low $$ market, but then I don't know everything.

Jake - yes, that's what I thought but also what Scott said.

Sadly $4,890 is more than I've spent in my entire life on music equipment and as an amount of money comes perilously close to my weekly cigar and wine bill. Fantastic looking bit of kit though:)

That rack super mixer is cool as hell but very pricey. Might as well just get a Ghost for that money.
I don't think that little M-audio thing would sound any better than the Behrringer.

Thanks guys - much appreciated.

The Fostex looks like it would be perfect.

Consider the Rane SM 26B. Plain, simple, versitile with clean and quiet circuitry.
