Im new to this PC recording thing, but I am learning.

When recording, How do I use the audio input (line in) jack instead of the regular mic input (pc mic)?

When I connect to it I cant get any sound. Ive gone into the volume controls and selected line in and its turned up but no sound. Is there something else I have to set up in my settings somewhere? What about in cakewalk?

Ive seen this covered a few times but never really seen an answer...

Help needed...

Line input is made to accept a line level signal, normally anything from -10 to +4 or even strange levels. You will not be able to plug a mic into the line input and record. You will need a mic pre to boost the mic signal to line level.
