Line in signal is lost and confused

Hi,

I posted something about this in the n-track area, but now I don't think it's related to that software.

Everything was going reasonably well and then today the signal from line in is suddenly going directly to the computer's SPEAKERS - not to the program where it can be recorded. I don't know why it would change where it's going to and I don't know how to change it back. The only setting I've touched since yesterday was the video acceleration and I've undone that just in case, but it wasn't causing a problem before so I don't think it's related.

I'm running winXP home edition on a fairly new AMD processor with plenty of power and speed. I've updated all my drivers and restarted my computer. I've checked my cables. I've lit candles and incense. I don't know what else to try!

Thanks

Jody

You have to tell N-track where to listen for the signal.

But, I'm not a N-track user. So, you might be better off posting this thread in the Soundcard and Recording Forum.

peace.....

Thanks, AlChuck,

That article was very helpful. Actually, I did manage to fix the problem by going to the control panels for the SB Live. But I think the way the article suggests might be easier and more direct. I had looked at the Windows mixer, but didn't find the recording settings section - only the playback settings.

Phew! On to the next headache!
