Back in May of '08 I posted that I scored a '74 Jazz Bass for $64.64 out the door. I thought I'd never EVER score another killer deal on a vintage guitar or bass. In this day and age of computers and being able to access the internet on your phone, you'd think pawn shops would know what they have. Well I went back to the same pawnshop today and scored a '79 P- Bass in black with maple neck. It's relic'd and has replacement pickups, bridge, pickguard, and the back of neck has been sanded. I scored it for $180 out the door. I know it's not as killer a deal as the '74 Jazz, but for the price I'll take it. The sad thing about both the scores is I don't even play bass at all. My son is the one who uses the '74 and he'll put this to work also. Should I give the pawnshop a Christmas present. I've scored a '74 Jazz Bass and a '79 P-Bass out the door for a grand total of $ 244.64. Here's a pic of the '74, and I'll post a pic of the '79 along with the pawnshop receipt when I scan it and take a pic of the bass.

...and where are you again?? Corpus?? Might be worth the trip. Can't find those kinds of deals here in Austin.

(I think you mentioned where you were when you posted your first score, but if you don't want to say, that's cool.)

Actually Lightning struck 3 times at the same pawnshop. About 7 months ago I scored a '98 USA Parker Nitfly guitar for $177 out the door. This place has been a GOLD MINE for me.:D

You sir... ...suck.

Sorry that was my envy speeking. Carry on with your deal getting ways! :D

I love to watch them...I picked up $3000 worth of mics for just over $100. a few months back.

I really try to be at the right place at the right time. I guess I get paid to go to pawn shops. I'm an outside salesman to travels about 100+ miles a day. I usually pass 10 -15 pawnshops every day. I make a point of stopping at every pawnshop that gets in my way. I never break my routine. It's helped me get some killer scores over the years. :D

Sometimes things just fall from the sky--I got my Squier ProTone Strat for $100.00 at a local pawn a couple years ago, I guess they didn't notice that extra little decal on the peghead. I had just started a new job, and put the guitar on layaway, when I came back a few weeks later to pick up the guitar, their resident wanker was there. One of the other guys brought the Strat from the back room while I settled up the bill. When the wanker saw it, he blurted out,"I didn't know we had that!"

I just laughed as I put it in the case I'd brought along,"Well, you don't, now."
