Hi,

I'm new to mixing, and some of the immediate references that I have are tracks that my own band have had recorded and mixed at our local studios. Listening to them in between professionally mixed tracks, I can hear that the overall mix quality is not as good, but I can't understand why.

As such, I'd really appreciate it if you could give the attached track a listen, and provide me with whatever insight / feedback you may have on the mix.

Thanks in advance,

I'm no expert, i've only been recording for 3 year, but I've been a music fanatic for much longer.

IMO...
The kick needed a little more punch. snare and the rest of the kit sounded good for that style.
the bass needed some low end definition, I'm not sure if it was the octave of the note being played or eq, but it seemed to mid heavy.
the guitars sounded okay...with the bass fixed i think the guitars would have a little more room to voice.
vocals sounded okay.
over all mix could be brighter.

cheers!

I think the kick sounds good until all the distorted guitar comes in. Then it gets a bit buried.

Otherwise, I don't reallly have any critiques.
