I am in the market for a new effects processor and have narrowed it down to these two. Unfortunately the stores around me carry one or the other but not both so I can't do a side by side comparison. I'm looking for killer reverbs and delays for vocals and guitar. I know one of the drawbacks with the Rumour is that it is pretty much a one trick horse whereas the MPX-1 is regarded more as multi-effects processor. For multi-effects one salesman suggested the Rumour and Mangler as being the best of both worlds. I'd appreciate any feedback to help me in making my decision. Thanks!

I've owned a Rumour, Mangler, and MPX-1, so I have experience with them all, and I would agree with your salesman that the Rumour and Mangler together make a great multieffects pair. The MPX-1 is a nice unit, but I think the reverbs in the Rumour are better. I ended up selling my Rumour and getting a KSP8 instead. The Rumour sounds as good as the KSP8, so I must say that the Rumour is an incredible value.

Thanks for the reply Sonic. I was kind of leaning toward the Rumour based on the fact that the reverbs were extracted from the KSP8. I listened to the KSP8 and they had to close the showroom down momentarily so that they could pick up the drool. :)

The KSP8 is great, I'm very glad I have one.

The Rumour has the same effects algorithms, and all the editing parameters. There are two editing modes on the Rumour and Mangler, "Basic" and "Extended". You have to be in extended mode to get all the same parameters as what are in the KSP8.

In a blind listening test between the KSP8 in "Preset" mode and the similar Algorithm in a Rumour, it would be very hard if not impossible to tell them apart. Of course the KSP8 has a lot more going for it, as it offers effects chaining, 8 busses and all sorts fx algorithms not on the other units.

The Rumor is reported to have incredibly good AD conversion as well. That, along with the great verbs, is why the Rumnor is probably my next purchase.
