Hi there,

Now i'm new to the whole home recording business, with a digital interface anyway, so the awnswer to this might be pretty simple.

So i have set up my audio interface, its a lexicon Alpha, and it runs into Cubase LE 5 and whatnot and all works just fine. However, what i've noticed is that either Cubase or Amplitude are 'hogging' the device, i.e. if one is running, there are no other sounds coming from anything. For example if i open Cubase first, then Windows Media Player, it will skip though all the songs not being able to play them. This is the same with Amplitude, if i start Cubase first then Amplitude does not find the interface and hence does not work.

I'm not sure if this is something to do with Cubase, Amplitude, the alpha driver or the device itself, but it's bugging me for quite some time now so any help would be appriciated. Sorry for my bad explanation.

Thanlks

In Cubase, Devices>Device Setup...>VST Audio System. Check the 'Release Driver' box. :)

Ah thats partially fixed it! :) Although is there no way to use 2 audio programs together? I can open Cubase working fine, then i play a song on Win Media Player, and Cubase no longer works while its playing, or after? Its a bit of a bummer but not really a problem at all.

Right, so the Lexicon Alpha isnt listed in the Playback devices in control panel? However my speakers are which are running though the device so i guess thats that then? I understand that Cubase doesnt play while its not the open program, but surly it should be able to play while its the main program, but there are other programs also using it in the background?

The Lexicon should absolutely be listed in Control Panel>Sound. Download and install the driver again. HERE.
