Hi guys!

I have not been unable to record or go online for months, bugger!

Can`t sing loudly in the house cos I don`t want to annoy Dad, so I thought I would write a kindof quiet song. It gets louder at the end.

It is rough at the start and the compression is really high but I like the tune and tone. What do you think? I had the best few nights in NY and I hope the song doesn`t offend.

Is it too corny?

got to listen more now after I got over the excitement of being first to welcome you back ... oh the little things in life ... :D

Man it is great to see a post from Erland!!!
I am pissed now because I am at work and cant listen to this. I think I am gonna go home on my lunch just to listen!!!
Great to see ya!!!

Nice. Pretty song. I liked the double tracking thing with the vocals at :39. Liked the additions at 1:38. Liked the vocal answer-back stuff near the end.

The vocals were pretty hot. Almost too much. What mic to you use for vox? Will my voice sound like this if I use one? :D

Tiny pop at 1:19. Hey I gotta ding your on something :D

Seriously - excellent work.

Very cool where it goes at 1:43... the whole song paints a picture, a moving picture. Couldn't hear anything to offend, and didn't find it too corny at all.
Excellent!

Mark

ye compression is noticable ... but the song is good ... actualy it's the whole "package" that's good :D ... at least nobody should say to turn the vocals up ... :)

by the way did you ever get a real shaker ... :D

Oh my GOSH!!! Look who's back!!!!

it's....

ERLAND!!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

whoo hooo!! :p

Were you in NY?!?!?!?!?! Are you telling me that you touched foot on American soil but didn't inform me as to where you would be, so I could drive up there and kidnap you!?!?!?!? :D

I'm at work (drat it all) so I can't listen right now... but you can be sure that that's the first thing I'm gonna do when my skinny butt hits the chair as soon as I get home.

whats up erland. good to see you back and to hear some new stuff from you.

i don't think it is corny...i liked the lyrics..

The song didn't really hook me in, it was alright...but, that's just the way it goes i guess. not everything is going to be infectious.

Not quite what I expected to hear...plenty of soul in your singing as usual, fine performance...

Funny that after just a few mp3s I already "label" what kind of stuff I want you to do. Heh..but dont listen to me...keep growing ;)

Cool fingerpicking... very nice changes. Something about the vox track bugs... grainy, crispy? Maybe that's done for effect? Seemed a tad sibilant.... but that's about all to say critique-wise.

Definitely a singer-songwriter. WATYF will love this :) (it's like somethin' he'd do, without that "moosey" delivery ;))

This stuff is top shelf; great mood. Thanks for the opportunity to listen!

Very nice song Erland. I won't bother with the obvious compression and sibilance problems, but add me to the list of the many admirers of your music. Simple and sweet. Hope the U.S. has treated you well :D

I didn't even listen yet,and I know it's great!

How are you my friend,it's been tooooo loooong!:D
Are you enjoying your stay?
I hope so.

Did you see the Big Apple yet?
I guess so if you went dancing there!:D

Real nice song,I like the fingerpicking, very nice!
I like the way it builds,is that a hand drum,ie guitar back?
I thought I was the only one who did that.

The production is just great, all those little tidbits really make it.
The heavy reverb at the end is just right.

Real nice to have you back, please do some more whispering!
You just made my day,thanks!:D

Best to you,
Pete

Very cool.....I'm having streaming problems so I'm not getting the very end....but I like the song a lot! Great the way it builds....believe it or not...it reminds me of some very early Steve Miller, and from me that's a major complement as I'm a big fan of his earlier work. I like the way you add vocals as you go along and I very much like the guitar part....the repititous fingerpicking part with additional things added as it goes....really nice! :)

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........................

feels good just to hear a new Erland tune... :D :D :D

Dude... I gotta find oat how you get your vocal sound cause it just rocks... :p I dunno if it's just your voice (probably), or if anything you're doing with the signal-chain is helping it, but I only wish I could get vocals that sound that "up front" (without making them sound like crap... :p ). There were the aforementioned sibilance and compression issues (some kind of grittiness goin' on), but not so much that it detracted from the listening experience much. I think the vocal level was great, mainly because the primary attraction of the song is your voice... When listening, it's almost like the acoustics are an afterthought.. :p Their levels are fine, but the voice is really all you're listening to. I also liked the acoustic sound you got.. the fingerpicking came through nice and clear. There was a bit of hiss goin' on (in the acoustic track) and it was fairly present when I listened to the song at higher volumes.

I did pick up on the "cornyness" you were asking aboot... I wouldn't say it actually got "corny"... but a couple times it swerved off in the direction of "corny", and got a little too close... :D

I like the chorus more than the verses... the verses seemed to be real "crammed"... but the chorus was more soothing and "pretty"... :p

But my main complaint was...

it was TOOOO SHHOOOOORRTTTTT....

dang it...!!! I've waited months for a new Erland tune and all I get is a measly 2 minutes and 40 seconds...  :D :p

Well.. I suppose I'll let it pass this time... :p but the next one had better be at least 5 minutes...

Hey Erland,
....very very beautiful stuff. Your voice is really something, and you are a very talented song-writer. You remind me a bit of a guy that released an album back in the early ninties named Mark Curry. He too didnt need a band to sound great. Guys like you can sit down with a jug-blower and pack the house.:) I didnt care much for the reverb "effect" on the vocs at the end....I liked the intention, but not the setting..... but thats small stuff.

Great stuff man, G

listening right now.......

right off the bat...that voice .......makes me hate you deeply and passionately.....really........lol....do you hear "cat stevens" much??
"dancin all nite long couse the city sings a song"...great line...man
.actually the whole song is very well written....so that coupled with my pre-existing "hate you for having such a great voice"..thing..makes this whole thing great.....

very nice job........really..
:D

sincerely,
the guy that thought his music was good a few short moments ago"..

Oh, nice!!! Really captures a moment in time... The descending bass line is really mesmerizing. Kinda made me think of Paul Simon... The vocals are terrific, the harmonies and doublings are tasteful and sublime. Only recording issues I can see would be solved with a pop filter, some Hs and Fs and Ps are popping through in the beginning. Not too bad though.

I like the effect at the end, but it might be more effective if it came on less suddenly, if it sorta snuck in gradually one phrase earlier...

REALLY really nice piece, I'll be humming that one for days....

Cheers!

Excellent work! The only feedback I might have may be that the vocals are too loud -- not something normally said around here I guess...You know what, take that back ... it really doesn't matter on this one. I think the whole thing just sounds great!

Good sentiment. I really dig this tune!

Another catchy tune erland.I bet mixmkr could come up with string/synth stuff in and around 1:30 when it starts the build up to the harmony vocal lines and some funky percussion stuff when you start tapping the body of your guitar......then pull it all down before your last vocal line......just some ideas because it seems really incomplete....most of your tunes are incomplete but they are killer tunes for what they are.

2 thumbs up.

hey dude...nice to see a post from you. You couldn't find any wackos in NY to back you up in a band!!:D  New York Dolls...., etc (jus' kiddin now...ya know...)

nice enough tune...the recording qualities suffer on many counts from hiss, to sibilance, to mic pops, and some other stuff that would normally hear in a rough sketch or a demo quality vein. Not one of your "hits", but a pleasant tune, none the less... Be good..

:)
