Been raining here in rochester for the better part of 2 weeks...or so it seems. :(

Well......I can't comment on the mix other than saying it sounds great to me.

As far as the tune.......Damn nice job! I liked this a lot although I do prefer your originals. The world needs talent like yours to keep the original music coming. But instrumental versions of vocal tunes are always cool to hear.

Always look forward to hearing your music!

Very good work.

Spot on perfect. Nice job.

My daughter wants to do a vocal for it, and I can't really stop her, so I'll just PM you with the results, lol.

very nice Jeff. The drum programming sounds pretty close to the original part.Nice melodic playing.....this has always been one of my favorite fleetwood mac tunes...very moody, which lends itself to an instrumental version.

p.s. e-mail me when you get jaimes(sp?) version recorded Chris.

Hey Jeffy,
...dont feel bad man, its raining here in cali too.....:( .

....very nice cover here. Your guit playing is always a big treat in here, this is no exception..... beautifully tasteful. At first i thought that maybe the guit might be just the smallest tad out front (the transients), but i know thats where you want emphasis, ...so it's prolly just me. ....for the hell of it, just a touch of compression might move it back just a tiny bit, ifn you feel like taking a look at that. Excellent stuff here bro!

Loved the cover! The mood and feel are spot on.

The guitars sound sweet...And an impressive sound for midi drums no less.

I showed it to the singer/keyboardist in my band whose dad was actually married to Ms. Nicks for a little while (it's a long, strange story) and he dug it too!

what?

the drums sound crappy.....way way low in the mix...

Are you guys listening to the same tracks as me???

Everything else is really cool....but, I said that in the thread you deleted.........didn't I?

I dunno' joro...I (very respectfully) disagree. I'm no drum guru, but I'm A/B'ing with the original, and it ain't far off the mark, in my opinion, levelwise.

well......

ok then.....

that's different....

carry on....

where's my pie?...................

aw man, lol...don't be like that. I take it back.

I'll say this...after listening a few more times, I think I agree that the gits may be too far out front, which is basically the same thing as saying that the drums and bass aren't loud enough...also, from 2:20 to 2:56 or so, the timing gets a little loose...like almost on the "Jamal" side of things, lol.

you can't take that away no...
No you can't make that OK....
and you cannot ever
no you cannot ever make it right.....

Thanks! and good hearing from ya again. :)

Yeah... can you believe its raining again! I think I might build an arc soon

I agree that the originals are more desirable and thats what Im working more on right now... will a bit more piano and arrangment.

Always look forward to hearing from ya!

Take care

Sounds good... Let me know if you want me to take the leads out, so your daughter can sing over this.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks chris

Hey thanks... Yes.. Fleetwood mac has always been one of my favorite bands. They remind me of the beatles in a way. Catchy-Rythmic tunes. the drums are always pretty tough for me, because they require so much time and miticulous tweaking. Esp. if your trying to duplicate a real drummer... its next to impossible.. but its a cool challange.

G

How ya doing?! :) Im still trying to get my new mixer dialed in... It has reverbs, compressions and stuff on it... its just a little rough right now mixing down everything through the busses with effects. Its like I have 4,000,000 different busses now and one signal can get lost very easily. Its very "routable" :) But yeah, I think the guitar needs a little something to cool it down a bit.
Hope your doing good!

Thanks for checking this out.

Thats a funny story, because I remember sombody in high school that said their dad dated Stevie also.

Hmmm... Maybe -Stop Dragging My Heart Around had more meaning than we know :)

joro

I reuploaded the song yesterday... maybe you still have the old version..

Or maybe you just still might not like it :)

Thanks for checking out!

umm...I never said I didn't like it...I said that everything was super duper except for the drums...
and I did get the new file....

it is a critique board...isn't it?

How about this, if you want a version with vocals on it, then go ahead and post a version where the leads are either muted or (preferably) just dropped down a couple of db. We did a test run last night, and it actually sounds pretty decent, which is fine for me...but if YOU want a vocal version, then yeah, PM me with a link to an alternate mix and I'll plug in the vocal...I'd be interested in your opinion regardless. Obviously, it's arranged as an instrumental piece, and it totally works that way...She just heard it and liked it, and I totally love taking advantage of these cheap opportunities to build up her musical catalog w/o it sounding like Karaoke, lol.

TC,
Chris

Very nice rendition.

The midi drums didn't sound bad although from memory I think Mick did a bit more work on the toms.

Also had a listen to your Dust in the Wind. Great playing, cool version

Nice cover

Great playing, guitars might be a little hot, but still very enjoyable!

OH Wow!!!

Man....Besides the cover...I listened to your other stuff and....

Just a big smile on my face.....

Total attention to detail....

I'd sure love to hear that you were using low to mid end equipent to record and mix.

Incredible musicianship

This time I was ready for an instrumental treatment,...

no surprise! RHIANNON.

Jeff, wow, really good playing & production! Sound recordings like this seem like radio cuts, through & through,... and I mean this in the best of ways:... EZY-FM.

There's no reason, IMO, that this recording should not be on an easy FM format radio, or that you should not be a highly paid studio musician. Your home recordings are awesome, and your playing is top notch. Keep up the good work.

Maybe stretch yourself into vocals a bit, just as icing on the cake. The track is tremendous, and it demands a strong vocal, eh?;)/DA

You have a PM. I sent onr couple days ago. dont know if ya got it yet

Bulls Hit

I thought I covered all his tom hits :) .. but the drums are quite a bit lower than when mick plays. and it makes it tough to hear whats going on back in the mix.

Glad ya liked the dust project ... thanks for looking :)

Sloop

I agree... I think the levels are off on the guitar and drums :) I'll probably go back and mess around with the tracks again after I give the song a little break.
Thanks for checking it out!

Dusty

Wow... Very nice comments.. thanks for those. :) ya put a smile on my face also :)
As far as my other songs you listened to.. I just used a Delta1010 and a little mackie mixer. I just bought a yamaha 01v96 and I havent noticed a big difference in sound quality. So, the moral of the story is you dont need expensive equipment to make cool grooves :) But expensive equipment cant hurt! well... maybe your pocket :)
Thanks again!

A Reel Person

Thanks for the reply reel person. I'll take your advice and Im going to do some vocal takes this weekend and we'll see how they come out.
Your comments about being a highy paid musician are pretty humbling... I could only wish at this point.
Thanks again for the encouragment!
take care

I agree...I can spot your style from a mile now, and I like it. You do great octave stuff, and just have that Marcoumb sound.
The cover isn't all that accurate soncially, but musically, it is, even though you took a lot of solo liberties. The drum part is pretty much there, since that seems to be the topic of choice, but they need power like Mick has...but NOT what this version needs... what you did this last post is great. keep it up, Jeff.
