This is the deal. I have a Roland XV 5080. I am looking into getting a Emu Proteus 2000. I make a lot of hip hop, reggae, & soon R&B. I find it that I can't find the right warm phat sounds out of the 5080.

Now is buying a Proteus 2000 a waste of money. Can I achieve what I want out of the 5080. Sounds too clean to me. Do I need to do some tweaking? Or I should buy a Proteus cause of the filters and warm sounds.

Let me know! Rather not spend the money if I don't have to.

You might be better off getting some good compressors and EQs to use on the sounds you have. Something like a Distressor or Fatso would help thicken stuff up.
