Ok first off, I'm using Home Studio 8.
Here's what I did. Originally, when I installed, I changed the wavedata folder name to "X". And everything went well.
Next I just recently had a second hard drive put in, to start storing waves and other music files in. I also downloaded "Winamp" to try out. (I'm straying a bit here)
And somehow the little box for "line-in" in the windows mixer got un-checked, so when I went to record, nothing would happen.
So, in a fit of insanity, I un-, then reinstalled Home Studio, and eventually got to solving the original problem with windows mixer.
BUT, my wavedata for the .wrk files are in folder "X", not in the default Cakewalk folder (when I reinstalled it). I tried to open a couple of songs, and sure enough, CW could not find the audio, and replaced it with silence. I did a 'find' for all the .wa~ files out there, so now I know where they are.
So ultimately my questions are:
1. Can I move all the .wa~ files to the 2nd hard drive?
and doing so:
2. If I change the destination folder in CW to one on the 2nd hard drive, will I be able to access all my prexisting wavedata through the .wrk files? Or is it just lost for all time?
Sorry, for the long post, I'd just hate to lose a lot of stuff. Much thanks to those who can reply.
