It's the smell..
1:53 of demented Raccoon metal with ZaphodB on guitar.

This is miles out of my usual element, mix-wise, so I'm pretty stymied on this mix so far. My drummer, Ralph miced up the drum set but I wasn't real crazy about the mic setup. Top and bottom snare mics seem a bit much compared to one well placed snare mic. I've named him "Needlessly Complex Man" for a reason tho.:D Suggestions for the mix?

Those of you that remember when ZaphodB used to hang out here will remember his hatred of raccoons. The hatred abides.:drunk:

I thought it sounded pretty good. I didn't really have any complaints about the snare. Kick sounded cool too. Maybe a tad too loud.

Reminded me of a song by Boston. Off the More Than a Feeling record. The lead in to Long Time. can't remember the song. too lazy to google.

I think you could probably turn down the bass a nudge. Bass sound itself was cool.

The lead guitar is a little muffled. Could use a little more upper mid-range.

There are sections of the song where things sound a little "cramped" or "squashed". Too many things fighting in the lower midrange.

Minor complaints all. Generally sounded really good.

That's pretty badass man. Reminds me of The Landlord's Daughter from The Decemberists with the organ and sweet busy drums.

I could use a little more snare. Maybe not more volume, just a little more pop/presence. And more bass guitar, I can't quite make out what it's doing though the song.

This is some phenomenal drumming and guitar playing. Short, sweet, intense, and well played. And maybe the best song title in ages :)

Pretty cool song. The playing's definitely out of my league! :D

That said, a lot of the mix does feel pretty muffled. I think the drums especially could use more "air" on them.

I disagree with triple M on the bass. It's pretty quiet in the mix now. I doesn't necessarily need to come up, but I wouldn't push it down any more.
