ok... here we go!! just registered so you all better be good to me!!

i record rap muzik. check me out at myspace.com/brycefuller509

AnYways!!

i have a sterling st59 condenser mic, which i have been running through a line 6 toneport ux 2 interface, which came with this stupid ass program called gearbox, which i guess is an onboard mixer, all it looks like to me. looks like it would work great for guitar. ive had to run my mic through it to go to my computer, to record with cool edit and adobe audition. this thing sucks though, lots of feedback, i know this is a good mic, it cant be putting off all the humm im getting and stuff

so today i went out and picked up the aphex 107 microphone pre amp in hopes it would make my vocals sound better. the only way i can hook this up i believe is through this line 6 thing to get to my computer(im a newbie so if theres more ways please tell me). so when i hook it up through the line inputs on the toneprt to get it to read through the computer, nothing is sounding any better.

So what do i do? i know that i obviously need a better interface but do i need an interface? usb mixer? what am i doing wrong? i even bought a interface last week an m audio one, mobile pre usb pro, that made it sound worse!! so i returned it.

im very confused with all this shit, im a newbie, only been doing this about 9 months. please tell me what do i do.

i dont know if i need a interface or a usb mixer or what! i know that usb puts off humm and all that so how do i get my computer to do all this? i have a brand new 2009 compaq as well, not a laptop, desktop, vista 32 bit, 3 gb ram dual core.

You can only get feedback if you have your speakers going while recording.

Make sure you are recording and monitoring via heaphones.

Check also to see that you are not using both hardware and software monitoring at the same time, You are better off monitroing via the interface (make sure your speakers run off that as well).

There's nothing wrong with the mikes.
