I'm just wondering if anybody has thought about using LED lighting schemes in a studio. Talk about mood lighting. Wohoo.

Sure. I'm working on some right now. AND fiber optic, custom lava lamp, and rope lighting goodies too. :D They are part of some art and trick cieling and wall lighting projects for my studio. They are also incorporated with Stylmark aluminum extrusions, hardwoods, fluoresent/ and transparent colored plex that glows along the edges. Fiber optics come in two types, end point light and side emitting, where the fiber emits light along the entire length. The units on rear of the ceiling and back wall are Stylmark quadratic residue diffusing elements along with slat absorbers. The front ceiling area are absorber clouds with soffit hidden rope lighting above them and some fiber optics point lights. The art pieces will have fiber optics with electronic light distribution and computer fed led signal source distribution. The fiber optic stuff comes from special signage distribution hardware. Most of this is still in design and assembly stages at the moment. It's a hobby. ;) But thats my intent anyway. Heres where I'm getting the led's, different colors. Not only that, but I'm using special AUTO 12 volt NEON stuff too :p

LED lighting exists, but unfortunately its more expensive than it needs to be.

If you want to homebrew your own, its not a big deal at all. All you need to do is make a simple current regulator, so your LED's don't get more current than they need. Lower the current to dim.

I just made a set of boards for my truck taillights. Haven't installed them yet. LED's are cool cool cool!
