Leaving reels on machines

I have read that leaving the full reels on a Tascam machine for a period of time can bend the reel motor shafts. I have done this many times since the early 90's without any bent shafts. I have had wobbly reel tables on TSR-8s from defective factory machining but no bent shafts. What do you think?

An empty reel isn't going to bend the shafts. Both my decks which are in a vertical position, always have an empty reel on the left side. My multi, which is now 20+ years old, shows NO signs of any bend/wiggle in the shaft....it runs smooth as silk.
