So I just bought a new acoustic guitar (Martin) and a new multitrack.

I have a pair of cascade sdcs that I can use for recording the guitar. Not the best mics, but they're serviceable. I would like to buy another condensor that I can use to record the guitar from a different spot (not the 12th fret), and also use for vocals.

Any suggestions on what I should look into?

Budget wise I am trying to stay reasonable and low. I would prefer to be around $100-$150, but if someone has a good reason to feel like dropping $230 on an NT1A is going to be way more useful for me than an AT2020 or an MXL then I will consider that.

Thanks.

The MXL V67g, which can often be had for less than $100, is a good mic for a pretty wide range of vocalists.

Well, depending on the voice, a used AT4033 or 4040 could be good. The 4033, in particular, works well on acoustic guitar for an inexpensive LD condenser.

Thanks for the replies. The v67 is one that is on my list of "to consider" items.

I've never had to describe my voice, so I'm not sure what to say. But, suffice to say I have a big range, and can honestly sing anything. Its not going to be for hardcore vocals (at least, at the moment....maybe down the line once some projects are progressing). Really I would say that I'd like a mic that would do a good job of capturing the nuances of what I do vocally, but isn't going to make me sound too bright or whiny. Maybe something that tends to have a slightly rugged sound to its tracks.

Thanks for your inputs.

The 9090 (the plainly-painted version of the V67i) is still available from MF for $80.
