Hi,

I own a layla 20 bit audio card. I have installed the drivers for windows xp. all the channels are in WDM mode (not in pure wave mode). You can for each input toggle between the -10 or +4 db mode. When you have professional equipment you have to select the +4db mode ( I read). When I select the latter, I should normally turn up less my input volumes (less noise) on the mixer than when I select the -10 db mode (I thought)? This isn't the case? Is there something wrong with the drivers or is it me who's wrong?

Another problem I have, is when I start a new project in Nuendo I only can record in 16 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit floating and not in 20 bit althougt the card is called layla 20 bit?

THanks a lot.

I'm not sure about your first question, but I think I can help for the second. I have 2 layla 20s and I use nuendo as well. Mine is set to record at 24/44.1, I figure that nuendo records 24 bits while the layla only sends 20, that the last four bits are just 0's, so in the end you still have your 20 bit recording with the last four bits Nuendo adds doing nothing.

Thanks Nick.

Does no one know the answer on my first question? you can in the software from you soundcard for the different inputs switch between -10db and +4db? When you select the +4db you should normally less turn up the gain and volume on you mixer ( --> so you have less noise).

For me that isn't the case. When I select the +4db mode I have to turn up the volume and gain on my mixer more than when I select the -10db. Strange I thought?

Thanks a lot.
