Hello and thanx in advance for your help. Right now i work with a Digi001, but have never been that happy with the qualilty of its converters (or whatever makes it sound like it does) and of course pre-amps (which I rarely use). Now i'm thinking about buying a Layla 3G (good bye pro tools... i use Nuendo most of the time anyway) or an ADA8000 to use as optional converters mostly.

1.- Does anybody consider the ADA8000 to be an upgrade to Digi001 converters?
2.- Does the Layla 3G or Layla24/96 sound better than both of them?

I hope someone can help me to decide!

Regards.

1. No.
2. Yes.

The Digi001 isn't great, but neither is the ADA8000 when it comes to overall quality of sound. Also, the top end of the ADA8000 preamps' gain just isn't very good. That doesn't keep it from being a useful piece of equipment though; I use one all the time preamping loud and less critical sources as well as running synths through it...

I can't compare to the 3G preamps, but the older Layla24 has fine sounding AD onboard.
