Lava Lamp?

Am seriously considering a studio upgrade.
No, not a Neve console just yet, but looked at lava lamps.
Sure to boost the creative process.
I read the reviews on cheap ones, and they said stay away, these are crap that maybe work for an hour, then never again.
Then I came accross the website of Mathmos, the inventors of the lava lamp.
Turns out they are based right here in town (Poole, UK), not 2 miles from my house.
They appear to have better quality, and collectable products.
I intend to check out their showroom, in the coming days.

I remember the first lava lamp I ever saw, back in the 70's, and I was mesmerized by the lava flow. Thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I am easily entertained I suppose.

Good luck with that. I have a few sitting dormant. It’s getting increasingly harder to find bulbs for them.
(Allthough I haven’t checked online)

Ok, I went to see their showroom.
Quite an impressive selection.
Bought a couple of rotating 'oil-slide' projectors, which have different coloured oil on stacked glass layers. Projects onto a wall or roof, but not the floor.
Also bought a regular 17" 'Telstar' lava lamp. A very pretty thing. Looks like a rocket standing on 3 tail fins.
If you buy directly from Mathmos, you can get spares for them.
The bulbs are their own brand, and they have an exception from the bloody stupid regulations banning halogen lamps.
Buy a cheap chinese copy, and you're on your own.
The big ones are very impressive. I'm sure I'll be back.
It is all on their website, I mentioned above.
