Needed a backup head for the Sunn and didn't have a lot to spend. Checked out the options online and while I saw some deals, didn't see anything where I could pay $20-$25 a week till paid. (Don't want no more bills!) So checked out the pawnshop across from work. The have a bunch of way overpriced Bassman heads and a stupid priced Kustom head. As is normal around here, a lot of Rogue and Bulldog combos and a decent Trace Elliot head that was priced right.(still, that was over $500). Then I saw this Behringer Head for a 150 bucks. It sold new for $200 plus shipping, but it was here and they had layaway. I got it out this week... not bad. With the 1x15, it sorta sounds similar to this SWR combo I tried at Sweetwater, The Black Beauty, I believe it was. If I can get a year's worth of use out of it, I'll be happy.

Funny,

Most stuff Behringer makes is spotty in quality, however...

Every Behringer bass amp/preamp I've been exposed to has been a winner with an excellent track record and fairly good sound quality for the price.

Great snag!

I know. I've had an up and down relationship with them:
3 Dynamic mics - good values for price, decent sound quality, reliable, excellent for interviews in high backgound noise situations.
a Bass combo - decent sound, took some abuse.(nothing serious, though) Good enough for a drum machine in a loud band setting.
24-channel mixer- pres started dying, in order and on a regular 2 month schedule, like clockwork. However, Behringer did replace it within 2 weeks of my complaint.
A bass multi effects unit (I can't remember the name at this moment)- A really, really versatile unit that was hard as hell too actually work with on stage. The MIDI footswitch actually made things worse. Fun as hell and I miss it, but money is money. :(
12 channel mixer - flaky, sometime it'll work, sometimes it won't. Out of warranty and now part of my stereo, controlling the rear speakers.

I know what you mean--the best thing that can be said about Behringer it seems is that its QC is inconsistent. I've seen posts where people stop short in their praise of calling Behri's stuff the best thing since sliced bread. On the other hand, other's seem to think it's the worst electronic gear on the planet.
My personal experience leans toward the latter. My congregation has a behri mixer for sound and it has been repaired/replaced four times in as many years. We're currently in a renovation program and the board is trying to allocate $$ during the renovation to put in a new mixer--preferably an Allen & Heath, but we're open to other options as long as the quality and service are better than behri's.

When I purchased my acoustic amp, I tried a behri just to see how it compared to some others like Marshall, Genz-Benz, Fender, SWR and even Crate. I have to say the behri was the absolute worst. The EQ didn't work, the volume was cranked to 8 before you had any discernible output--and then it started feeding back.

Oh, yeah,
I was also going to say it's amazing to find a bargain at a pawn shop. I'm not sure what they're like in other locales, but in this area (midwest USA), every pawn shop I've looked at musical equipment in seems to be selling used (and more often than not abused) equipment at new equipment prices.

It's weirdly easy to find a deal on musical equipment, around here. But people move fast. I saw a Marcus Miller in the shop where I bought the head one day for about $350. By the end of the week it was gone. I bought a Sunn Bass Coliseum 300 and a Hartke 4x10 for $200 at a local Cash America. A Squire Strat, with case and amp(crap) for $115. A just pays to keep checking them.
