I'm stuck working today :rolleyes: but was happy to receive the attached mix from Tony in my email. Newest version of I Do with Dobro recorded with a ribbon mic and new Tele solos....

Thought I would upload it for all to enjoy! Let me know how the mix sounds generally, and I'll incorporate your suggestions later when I get a chance to download and mix the wav files he sent me....

Wow, nice mix Gerry-you transformed my rough & ragged notes into something quite musical! Your mix is nice and smooth, Sonar sure achieved a great mix! Very Cool.....!!
 
Great song. Nice collab. Tony has done a few songs for me and I always enjoy working with him. So willing to help. :D

If you don't mind, I have a couple of suggestions. Individual elements sound great, but I'd like to hear some global eq adjustments. I think you can cut a little at 500hz and boost a gentle wide curve between 4khz and 8khz. I made those changes here and it sounds so nice.

I suggest the dobro not play during the verses. The main melody flows nicely and has a good line and the dobro steps over it. The chorus is not as busy (note-wise) as the verse and the dobro complements the melody line really well so having in the chorus is great. Plus, pulling it out for the verses and bringing it back in for the choruses helps the song to ebb and flow. Did I say "Flow" already?? eh, you know what I mean.... :)

Thanks Tony - all I did was drop the dobro track into Sonar and adjust the pan and volume so it's all you :D I added a little compression to the Tele but again it's fairly minor. Oh and a touch of reverb to both to match the rest of the instruments.....I've rolled back my reverb so things are much drier than when I started this recording stuff....lol...
and Chili - I'll have to try that eq thing when I get home. :D:D:D:D

I thought things sounded real good.

A little shimmer might be nice, so I think a boost in the 4K - 8K octave might be nice. Not sure about a cut at 500hz. I'll trust Chili's ear, but I wouldn't want to thin the mix out much. I might peg a cut a little higher than 500hz.
 
This is a very tidy mix Gerry but I have to reiterate my previous comment - either Tele OR Dobro for my ears.
Terrific playing Anthony - you've given Gerry a couple of excellent options to work with - probably too many though.
It's a terrific song.
