Latency with Steinberg (everything)

I have Cubasis, an SB Live Platinum, and a demo of Nuendo. No matter what I try, all the Steinberg programs cause a second or more delay between the time the sound is input, and the time it goes down on the track. I love these programs, and use them for mixing and mastering, but I'm not able to record with them.

I've also tried Vegas, nTrack, Logic, ProTools Free, Cakewalk, and none of these programs behave this way.

So what's up with Steinberg's stuff, and how do I fix it?
