latency problem

Hi,

I have a Delta 44 sound card and Cakewalk Sonar 2.0. I just got it all set up and i tried to record my bass just for a test run. The problem i have is when i run my guitar to my mixer and the mixer to the soundcard there is latency in sonar. We downloaded new drivers from the delta website but could never figure out how to change the old driver to the one i just downloaded. And im not even sure if that is the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I don't have a Delta Card, so I can't help you with the installation of the new drivers. But you should first set the latency buffer setting (or similar) in the Delta Control Panel to a low number, say 128. Then open Sonar and under Options -> Audio, hit the Waveprofiler-button. After it's done, it should set your latency to a low figure... If not, you can modify the latency yourself by using the latency-slider (but be carefull for dropouts, if you get them then raise the latency again)...

How do you know you have latency problems, musicfan? And do you have Input Monitoring enabled?
