sorry for the stupid question... but I'm curently working with a guitar amplifier plug-in (Amplitube) and I get a bit of delay between the sound made on the guitar and the sound received from the monitors. what is called latency.. (stupid me.. could of said it from the start  )
anyhow... does anyone have any ideas what can cause it or even better.. any ideas how I can straighten it up?
currently I'm working with a Cubase SX2 on a Pentium4 2.6 with a Soundblaster Live card and 256MB ram. does disk space has anything to do with audio latency?
any ideas would be most welcome :)
(I just wish for once to have no problems at all with my cubase )

Check out the programs you may have running in the backround and turn them off. Adding another 256 ram will help loads. Sometimes the video board can use up alot of resources and cause the latency. Adding an extra drive for recording onto can help a bit with the latency. Make sure you are using the ASIO driver. You also might want to lower the sample rate to 48,000kHz. If none of that works then I'd change to micing an amp and if that's not possible for you, you could try a DI box instead.
