Latency Problem!

Hi everyone! im quite new to this recording on a p.c lark!and am getting terrible sync problems when i try to record say a guitar on the second track, after recording a drumon the first. someone told me it was the latency setting and to count the difference in samples and then times them by a 1000 and then divide by the sample rate but im still getting problems! im using cool edit pro2.0 and im using a SB live 5.1 card! is it the card? any ideas are welcome!

The problem is that turd of a soundcard. Get something like an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and you will be good to go.

change sound card and you should be fine, i had same problem till i upgraded my sound card.

"Someone" was quoting the help file which has some good advice and explanations concerning latency - search the help file for that word and you'll see it.

hi there!
i was once using a sound blaster vibra 128, Worked fine in W98se but wouldnt sync up in XP pro... waznt an issue when i updated my sound card!
