Well, I configured my keyboard (yamaha DGX 530) with FL 8 as a midi keyboard. The problem is whenever i try to play piano or any other instruments through FL 8 software with my keyboard there is a time difference (difference between the time when i press keys on my keyboard and the time i hear it on my speaker). I think, it is because of the sound card. I have a normal sound card that came with the computer. How do i solve this latency or time difference problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks
Bakhtiar.

you may need to download updates for your drivers for your software/keyboard/soundcard etc... If you are up to date, you might want to try downloading some sort of midi channel software. I use LoopBE1 midi monitor for midi.

Mess around with your FL configuration a bit, and make sure you dont have alot of programs running in the background. Its less likely that it is your soundcard.

Hope this helps!

You are experiencing LATENCY.

That is the time delay your soundcard and its drivers take in processing the data.

Still using a built-in soundcard?? Unfortunately, those are made with less than $1 worth of chips for beeps, boops and light gaming (not to mention cheapness for the manufacturer) and NOT quality music production. Cheap components and poor drivers can cause delays.

#1 Rule of Recording: You MUST replace the built-in soundcard.

Here's a good guide and tested suggestions that WORK: http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_for_the_home_studio.htm
