Howdy.

I am trying to get some informed opinions so I can determine if this will work:

For recording shows that I mix in the future I would like to get a 4 channel USB audio interface (Stereo Board Mix + Stereo Room Mics) and use a Netbook to record (only), it will be mixed on a PC... prolly last years' model of Netbook, used.

Please and Thanks.

I think a netbook probably isn't a good idea. Netbooks are made to surf the net and check e-mails. There are lots of laptops out there that can do the job why a netbook?

Cheaper and more portable. If I wanted a laptop, I'd just go buy a laptop. Why isn't it a good idea? Have you tried a netbook with 4 track recording and found it didn't work?

Depends on exactly what you want to do.

If it's just simple recording with no real mixing (and not much to store) then it might be okay.

However, using the netbook we have as an example, the processor is too slow for any serious mixing or adding effects (and the RAM is limited as well). Also, the onboard storage is only 160 gig, with under 100 gig left after the OS is taken into account. I guess you could use an external HDD, but the CPU is still slow and clunky.

So...it depends on exactly what you have in mind.

Sorry, I guess adding that tail (prolly last years' model of Netbook, used.) in after this

Didn't help, sorry! It will be mixed on a desktop, all I want is 2x stereo to netbook recording. I have since been pointed in the direction of the reaper forums, where a few people have indicated it is indeed possible. So, I went and got one.
