Laptop

Hey!

I just wanna ask what's the possibilities on recording on a laptop? What is needed to make it work at all? What are the disadvantages etc? I'm interested 'cause I record mostly accoustic guitar and vocals (and some other stuff) and always one track at a time and I would love to be able to move around and do it in different places (to get some peace and quiet ).

The only disadvantage I can think of is that in order to record 24-bit stereo, you need an external sound card or analog->digital converter. And external devices are usually more expensive than PCI cards used in desktops.
