Hey everyone! I have a buddy who suffers from writers block, because he, like myself, cannot write music if its flowing from my mind into those notation softwares... so I suggested that he do what i do, which is just play your instrument of choice and record it to the computer and then layer it how you want. He likes the idea but I dont want to get him buying expensive gear especially because this might not turn out to be the solution for him.. anyways.
Here is one item I thought he might be good to go with,
http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--ALEIO2
the alesis IO2, because it is USB (compatible with his laptop) it has ASIO drivers, a built in preamp and phantom power...
now i know the audio quality cant be spectactular from this thing, but it should at least allow him to record his guitar amp with a Sm57, get some rhythm tracks down and be able to play some melodies over it and get his ideas out more efficiently right? what says you all?
